SBP Directs Banks to Open Saturday for Hajj Application Collection

Karachi, November 28, 2024 – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that branches of designated banks will remain operational over the weekend to facilitate the submission of Hajj applications for 2025. This special arrangement, requested by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, ensures greater convenience for intending pilgrims.

According to an SBP press release, 15 designated banks will keep their relevant branches open on Saturday, November 30, 2024, and Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. nationwide. This extended service will allow prospective pilgrims to deposit their Hajj applications along with the required dues within the allocated timeframe.

Under the Hajj Policy 2025, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has designated 15 banks to handle the collection of Hajj applications. These include the National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank, United Bank, MCB Bank, Allied Bank, Bank of Punjab, Bank Alfalah, Zarai Taraqiati Bank, Faysal Bank, Askari Bank, Bank Al-Habib, Habib Metropolitan Bank, Soneri Bank, Meezan Bank, and Bank Islami. The application process officially began on November 18, 2024, and will continue until December 3, 2024, providing ample time for applicants to complete the necessary formalities.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the SBP and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure a smooth and accessible application process for Hajj pilgrims across Pakistan. By extending banking hours over the weekend, authorities aim to accommodate individuals who might face difficulties visiting banks during regular working days.

Intending pilgrims are encouraged to utilize this opportunity and submit their applications promptly to avoid any inconvenience as the deadline approaches. With the dedicated cooperation of banks and government agencies, this arrangement seeks to streamline the Hajj preparation process for thousands of aspiring pilgrims in the country.
