Financial analysts said the KIBOR trend reflects prevailing liquidity conditions in the banking sector and market expectations regarding future monetary policy decisions by the State Bank of Pakistan. They noted that rising interbank rates generally indicate tighter liquidity and increasing borrowing costs for financial institutions and businesses. Higher KIBOR levels can directly impact commercial lending rates, making financing more expensive for the corporate sector and consumers alike.
Experts added that inflationary pressures, external account challenges, and government borrowing requirements were among the major factors influencing money market rates during the period. They further observed that banks closely monitor KIBOR movements to determine pricing for loans and other financial products. Market participants expect future changes in KIBOR to remain linked with SBP policy measures, inflation outlook, and economic growth trends. Stable liquidity management and effective monetary policy decisions will remain essential for maintaining confidence in the financial system and ensuring balanced credit growth across various sectors of the economy.
