SBP launches InvestPak to expand digital investment in government securities

New web portal and mobile app enable retail and corporate investors to purchase Government of Pakistan securities digitally while promoting financial inclusion.

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially launched InvestPak, a dedicated digital investment platform designed to simplify access to Government of Pakistan securities for both retail and corporate investors, marking a major step towards digitalising the country’s financial markets.

Alongside the launch, the central bank unveiled a nationwide media campaign to raise public awareness and encourage broader participation in Pakistan’s sovereign debt market.

The launch ceremony, held at the SBP headquarters in Karachi, was hosted by Governor Jameel Ahmad and attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb as the chief guest. Senior SBP officials, presidents of commercial banks, corporate executives, representatives from insurance companies, mutual funds and other stakeholders from the financial sector also participated in the event.

Digital gateway to government securities

InvestPak consists of a comprehensive web portal and mobile application ecosystem that fully digitises the process of investing in Government of Pakistan securities. The platform offers individuals, businesses and institutions direct, secure and convenient access to sovereign investment products without the traditional administrative complexities.

Addressing the ceremony, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of building a digitally enabled and financially inclusive economy.

He noted that InvestPak would democratise investment opportunities by allowing ordinary citizens, particularly young investors, as well as corporate entities and institutions, to invest directly in government securities through a secure digital platform.

Aurangzeb added that a broader investor base would also enable commercial banks to channel more resources towards private sector lending, thereby supporting economic growth, business expansion and job creation.

Milestone in financial sector transformation

SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad described InvestPak as a defining milestone for Pakistan’s financial sector, saying the initiative demonstrates the central bank’s commitment to delivering inclusive, sustainable and technology-driven financial services under its Strategic Vision 2028.

He said the platform would help establish a more efficient, transparent and accessible government securities market while making sovereign investment products available to investors across the country through digital channels.

The governor also underlined the importance of public awareness in ensuring the platform’s success, observing that technology alone cannot transform financial behaviour. He said the SBP intends to make sovereign investments a household concept through coordinated awareness campaigns across print, social media and FM radio.

Key features of InvestPak

According to the SBP, the platform offers a range of features aimed at making government securities more accessible and user-friendly. Investors will be able to purchase government securities entirely through digital channels, significantly reducing paperwork while enhancing transparency throughout the investment process.

The platform also enables users to manage multiple Pakistani rupee (PKR) and Investment Portfolio Securities (IPS) accounts through a single interface across participating financial institutions. In addition, investors will benefit from improved portfolio visibility and the convenience of monitoring and managing their investments from home or office.

To support customers, the SBP has established a dedicated InvestPak call centre alongside integrated online customer support through the platform’s web portal and mobile applications.

The central bank expects InvestPak to broaden retail participation in Pakistan’s government securities market, strengthen financial inclusion and accelerate the country’s ongoing digital transformation by making secure government-backed investments more accessible than ever before.
