The 16-week accelerator programme, running from November 2026 to February 2027, aims to strengthen local technical expertise and expand access to digital financial services.
KARACHI, November 3, 2026: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched an Innovation Hub Collaboration Framework and the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Programme to strengthen Pakistan’s financial technology ecosystem and accelerate digital payments.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the SBP Karachi office and attended by central bank leadership, representatives of the Mojaloop Foundation, banks, financial institutions, technology companies, fintech firms and academia.
Established under SBP Vision 2028, the Innovation Hub provides a platform for structured engagement with stakeholders in the financial technology sector.
The newly introduced framework will promote capacity building, knowledge exchange and ecosystem development through non-exclusive, technology-neutral and provider-neutral partnerships.
The first initiative under the framework is the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Programme for Pakistan, launched in partnership with the Mojaloop Foundation, a non-profit organisation maintaining open-source payment software.
Speaking at the ceremony, SBP Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah described the accelerator as an important opportunity to strengthen Pakistan’s financial technology ecosystem.
He said the initiative would connect local talent with international expertise, helping Pakistani institutions transform innovative ideas into practical payment solutions.
He expressed confidence that the collaboration would encourage innovation, strengthen domestic technical capabilities and expand access to digital financial services.
16-week digital payments training programme
The Mojaloop Foundation will support the programme through specialised training, technical guidance and programme development.
Running from November 2026 to February 2027, the 16-week accelerator will combine self-paced learning with expert-led training sessions.
It is designed for local system implementers, digital financial service providers and payment-hub operators seeking to develop expertise in digital payment infrastructure.
Participants will also gain access to the Mojaloop technical community, providing opportunities for continued learning and the adoption of international best practices.
The SBP said the initiative reflected its commitment to responsible innovation, strengthening digital payment infrastructure and promoting financial inclusion to support Pakistan’s inclusive economic growth.
