SBP reserves rise $15 million to $21.45 billion

Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves reached $26.80 billion in the week ended October 2, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $15 million week-on-week to $21.454 billion in the week ended October 2, 2026, the central bank said on Thursday.

According to data released by the SBP, the country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $26.80 billion during the week.

SBP Reserves Reach Recent High

The SBP’s foreign exchange reserves rose to $21,453.7 million, compared with $21,438.7 million a week earlier.

The central bank said, “During the week ended on 2-Oct-2026, SBP’s FX reserves increased by US$15 million to US$21,453.7 million.”

Meanwhile, net foreign reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.344 billion, bringing the country’s total liquid reserves to approximately $26.80 billion.

The latest increase takes SBP-held reserves to their highest level in the recent period, providing further support to the country’s external liquidity position.

Reserves Rise From September Level

SBP-held foreign exchange reserves had previously increased by $39 million during the week ended September 25, reaching $21.439 billion.

The latest increase follows that rise, with reserves continuing to remain above the $21 billion mark.

The movement in foreign exchange reserves remains an important indicator of Pakistan’s external liquidity and the central bank’s ability to meet the country’s international payment requirements.
