The Hollywood actress describes her upcoming role as emotionally challenging, saying the experience gave her existential angst while keeping plot details under wraps.
Scarlett Johansson has revealed that her role in The Batman: Part II has pushed her further outside her comfort zone than any previous project.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actress described the experience as particularly challenging, admitting that it had given her “a lot of existential angst for some reason”.
Asked which role had tested her the most, Johansson laughed and replied: “Probably the role in The Batman.”
She explained that understanding the character had been difficult, although she was unsure whether the challenge came from the role itself or her personal circumstances at the time.
Johansson avoided revealing further details, adding: “That’s all I can say about it.”
The actress is reportedly playing Gilda Dent, the wife of Harvey Dent, although her character has not been officially confirmed. Sebastian Stan is rumoured to portray Harvey Dent, while other casting details remain undisclosed.
The returning cast includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.
Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry have also joined the project.
Behind the scenes, director Matt Reeves has stepped away indefinitely due to a family matter, with Steven Soderbergh helping oversee the remaining principal photography.
Johansson’s casting was previously confirmed by Reeves, adding further anticipation to the upcoming DC sequel.
