Hollywood star Selena Gomez shared a memorable moment as she revealed the valuable advice she received from a fellow actress. Speaking with People at the 2024 ELLE’s Women in Hollywood event, Selena reflected on the best guidance she had received from another woman.
“I know this may sound silly, but someone once told me, ‘Don’t take yourself too seriously, because it allows room for empathy and compassion,” Selena shared. “And that mindset really helps when you enter a film or take on a character, allowing you to truly appreciate the experience.”
The Calm Down singer continued to express deep respect for the actress who gave her the advice, though she chose not to name her. “I know it sounds strange, but it really does work when you let yourself enjoy the moment without overthinking it.”
Selena made her appearance at the star-studded event alongside Emilia Pérez co-stars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The event brought together some of Hollywood’s brightest stars, all celebrating women’s accomplishments in the entertainment industry.
This follows Selena’s recent excitement about working with Meryl Streep on Only Murders in the Building. In an interview with ELLE, the 32-year-old actress praised Meryl’s professionalism and leadership on set, describing her as a true mentor. “Working with Meryl was an absolute dream,” Selena said, “her presence is inspiring, and I learned so much from her.”
On the career front, Selena Gomez first rose to fame starring on the children’s television series Barney & Friends. She transitioned into music, signing with Hollywood Records, and formed her band Selena Gomez & the Scene in 2008. Over the years, she has built an impressive career, not only as an actress and musician but also as a producer and advocate for mental health awareness.
