Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited action thriller King has encountered a delay as director Siddharth Anand fine-tunes the screenplay. Originally set for an earlier release, the film is now scheduled to hit theaters in June 2026.
According to Bollywood Hungama, King was initially expected to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh. However, Shah Rukh Khan and his team opted for a directorial change, bringing in Pathaan director Siddharth Anand to helm the project. The decision was made to align the film’s vision with Anand’s signature cinematic style, ensuring a high-octane experience for audiences.
A source close to the production revealed that Anand is meticulously working on the script to elevate the film’s impact. “Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan delivered a massive hit with Pathaan, and the goal with King is to surpass the benchmarks set by the YRF Spy Universe,” the insider shared. “Sid is making sure every aspect is perfected before production begins.”
The film is set to begin shooting in June 2025 across various locations in India and Europe. The production houses, Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix, are committed to delivering a visually stunning cinematic spectacle. “The idea is to create a larger-than-life experience for audiences and bring the film to the big screen by late 2026,” the source added.
King will feature Shah Rukh Khan in a pivotal role alongside his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. This marks an exciting collaboration for the Bollywood superstar and his daughter, generating immense anticipation among fans.
