Shaheens Secure Convincing Victory in 2023 Top End T20 Series

Pakistan Shaheens emerged triumphant with a commanding nine-wicket win over ACT Comets at the DXC Arena during the 2023 Top End T20 Series clash on July 31. This resounding victory marked their second triumph in the series.

The star of the match was the brilliant opener, Shamyl Hussain, whose exceptional performance played a pivotal role in Pakistan Shaheens’ successful pursuit of victory.

The left-handed batsman showcased his skills, crafting an unbeaten 57 runs off just 44 balls, comprising nine boundaries. With such a solid innings, the team effortlessly achieved the target of 123 runs within a mere 15.2 overs.

A vital partnership between Shamyl Hussain and Basit Ali, representing Dera Murad Jamali, was instrumental in Pakistan Shaheens’ domination.

Basit’s contribution of 28 runs off 27 balls, featuring two fours and a six, further solidified the team’s grip on the game. Later in the innings, captain Rohail Nazir delivered an outstanding performance, remaining unbeaten at 39 runs with an impressive strike rate of 185, including four boundaries and a six.

Winning the toss, Pakistan Shaheens’ skipper, Rohail Nazir, chose to bowl first. The team’s disciplined bowling effort limited ACT Comets to 122 for seven in their allocated 20 overs.

The left-arm unorthodox bowler, Faisal Akram, showcased his talent, claiming two crucial wickets while conceding only 22 runs. Sajjad Ali and Arafat Minhas also contributed, each taking one wicket.

ACT Comets’ Nicholas Broes emerged as the highest scorer with 37 runs off 34 balls, including two fours. Zak Keogh and Hanno Jacobs contributed 23 and 20 runs, respectively.
