The Sindh High Court has issued ad-interim orders suspending NEPRA’s orders and related notifications challenged by K-Electric over its tariff appeals.
K-Electric Limited (KEL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that the Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended orders and notifications issued in connection with the company’s tariff appeals.
According to K-Electric’s disclosure dated 8 October 2026, the company exercised its legal right to challenge judgments passed by the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal on 23 September 2026, along with NEPRA’s review determinations and subsequent notifications concerning its tariff appeals.
K-Electric said the challenged matters included NEPRA’s Review Determinations dated 20 October 2025, notifications issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on 23 September 2026, and a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) on 27 September 2026.
The company had previously made a disclosure on 24 September 2026 regarding the matter.
K-Electric said it approached the SHC at Karachi against the judgments of the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal, the review determinations and the subsequent notifications.
The company further disclosed that on 7 October 2026, the SHC passed ad-interim orders under which the impugned notifications and orders have been suspended.
The development follows a legal challenge by K-Electric concerning tariff appeals and could affect the implementation of the regulatory decisions under challenge while the proceedings before the SHC continue.
K-Electric submitted the disclosure under Sections 96 and 131 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Regulation 5.6.1(a) of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Rule Book.
The disclosure was signed by Rizwan Pesnani, Chief Risk Officer and Company Secretary of K-Electric Limited.
The company’s filing was addressed to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and PSX for dissemination to certificate holders in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements.
