LAHORE, October 25, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to strengthen export-based industries to support economic growth and ensure long-term financial stability in Pakistan.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ali Hussam Asghar on Sunday, where participants discussed the national economy, trade promotion, industrial challenges and measures to facilitate the business community.

The prime minister said the government was working closely with the private sector to stimulate economic activity and establish a business-friendly environment across the country.

He emphasised the importance of cooperation between the government and the business community to generate employment opportunities, expand trade and strengthen the country’s economic outlook.

During the meeting, LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar highlighted key challenges confronting businesses and presented a series of proposals to address operational hurdles, increase industrial production and create employment opportunities.

He also commended the government’s economic policies and praised its initiatives aimed at encouraging investment.

In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif constituted a dedicated committee to examine the proposals submitted by the LCCI president and develop an actionable implementation plan.

The move signals the government’s engagement with the business community to identify practical solutions to industrial and commercial challenges.

Strengthening export-oriented industries is considered important for expanding Pakistan’s export base, supporting economic activity and improving financial stability.
