Karachi, January 12, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released the shipping activity report for Friday, January 12, 2024, providing stakeholders with crucial information on the ongoing maritime operations.

The APL South-Hampton, carrying containers, successfully berthed at the Qasim International Container Terminal during the reported period. This shipping activity follows its arrival at the port on the preceding Thursday, contributing to the continuous flow of cargo through the vital terminal.

Simultaneously, the container ship ‘Maersk Nayassa’ made its presence known at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on the same day. The arrival of multiple vessels demonstrates the port’s strategic importance and its role as a key hub for maritime trade in the region.

Over the last 24 hours, a total of five ships were actively engaged at PQA berths. Notably, two of these vessels, Sea Power-1 and APL South-Hampton, concluded their operations and left the port on the reported day. Additionally, the Bulk cargo carrier ‘Kang Hong’ is expected to set sail on the same day, showcasing the dynamic and efficient nature of Port Qasim’s maritime activities.

The cumulative cargo volume handled at the port during the last 24 hours reached an impressive 117,752 tonnes. This comprised 67,789 tonnes of imports cargo and 49,963 tonnes of export cargo, all efficiently managed through the handling of 3,800 containers (1,208 TEUs for imports and 2,592 TEUs for exports). These statistics underline the port’s capacity to handle a diverse range of cargo, emphasizing its significance as a pivotal trade gateway.

Looking ahead, the shipping landscape at Port Qasim remains active, with four ships currently at the Outer Anchorage. Two of these vessels, Sakizaya and Klima, along with another ship, Big Breezy, are expected to take berths at FAP, PIBT, and QICT on the reported day. Additionally, three more container ships, namely Lotus-A and Olympia, are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, indicating sustained momentum in maritime operations.
