Karachi, November 25, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) issued its latest report on shipping activities, showcasing significant maritime operations over the last 24 hours. The port continues to be a critical gateway for Pakistan’s trade, managing a diverse range of imports and exports efficiently.

Five vessels—Apollon D, Han Ren, OM Singapore, Amir Gas, and Alba Gas—berthed at various terminals during the last 24 hours. These ships were allocated to the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Liquid Terminal, and Oil Terminal for loading or offloading containers, rice, palm oil, and LPG.

Simultaneously, four other vessels—America, Chemroad Wing, Hafnia Precision, and Hafnia Eagle—arrived at the port’s outer anchorage. These ships carried containers, chemicals, and gas oil and are expected to be berthed soon to commence cargo handling operations.

In total, nine vessels were engaged at Port Qasim berths during the reporting period. Two ships, Aqua 1 and Singapore Bulker, departed from the port early Monday morning after completing their cargo operations. Meanwhile, three other ships—Amir Gas, OM Singapore, and Apollon D—are scheduled to sail later in the day.

Cargo Throughput

Port Qasim handled a total cargo volume of 79,465 tonnes during the past 24 hours. This included 61,008 tonnes of imports and 18,457 tonnes of exports. The cargo also encompassed containerized goods, with 2,490 containers (1,733 TEUs imports and 757 TEUs exports) processed efficiently through the terminals.

Upcoming Berthing Plans

Currently, 15 ships are anchored at the outer anchorage, awaiting berthing. Of these, five vessels—Ken Ren, America, Hafnia Precision, Chemroad Wing, and Valianta—are scheduled to take berths at terminals such as MW-1, QICT, EVTL, and LCT. These ships will handle commodities including rice, containers, gas oil, chemicals, and palm oil.

Port Qasim’s robust operations highlight its essential role in maintaining Pakistan’s trade momentum. By accommodating a variety of cargo types and maintaining steady shipping traffic, the port ensures seamless logistics, supporting the nation’s import and export needs.
