Shipping Operations at Port Qasim on February 4, 2025

Karachi, February 4, 2025 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has issued an update on shipping operations for Tuesday, February 4, 2025, to facilitate maritime stakeholders and ensure smooth trade activities.

The port remains a key hub for Pakistan’s import and export sector, with continuous shipping movements enhancing trade flow.

According to PQA, five ships—Seaspan Santos, Yun Ding-19, OM Shanghai, and Cl Diyin He—carrying containers, palm oil, chemicals, and coal berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively, on Monday. These arrivals highlight the steady shipping activity at the port, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient cargo handling.

Meanwhile, five more ships—Nagoya Express, MSC Barcelona, GFS Ruby, Dumbledore, and EVA Diamond—arrived at the outer anchorage within the past 24 hours, bringing in containers, palm oil, and chemicals. The consistent arrival of vessels underlines Port Qasim’s vital role in regional and international shipping networks.

A total of ten ships were actively engaged at various PQA berths during the last 24 hours. Out of these, five ships—Inlaco Express, Seaspan Santos, OM Shanghai, Leader, and Fuwairit—are scheduled to set sail on Tuesday, ensuring a dynamic shipping turnover at the port.

The port handled a substantial cargo volume of 140,421 tonnes over the past 24 hours. This comprised 107,017 tonnes of import cargo and 33,404 tonnes of export cargo, transported through 2,540 containers (1,080 TEUs for imports and 1,460 TEUs for exports). The ongoing shipping operations reflect the port’s efficiency in managing large-scale shipments.

Currently, 19 ships are anchored at Port Qasim’s outer anchorage. Among them, four vessels—MSC Barcelona, GLBS Hero, NCC Sama, and Alaa—are scheduled to load and offload containers, rice, gas oil, and LPG. These ships are expected to berth at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), MW-1, FOTCO, and EVTL, respectively, on Tuesday. Furthermore, three additional ships—MSC Positano, Maersk Cairo, and CMA CGM Dolphin—are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, continuing the port’s steady shipping activity.

With consistent shipping operations, Port Qasim remains a crucial maritime gateway, supporting Pakistan’s economy and ensuring efficient cargo movement across regional and global markets.
