Shab-e-Barat, one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar, is observed between the 14th and 15th of Shaban. It is a significant occasion for Muslims who seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah and offer special prayers throughout the night. Devotees also visit graveyards to recite prayers for their deceased loved ones and engage in acts of charity.
Across Sindh, special religious gatherings will be held in mosques and community centers, where scholars will deliver sermons emphasizing the spiritual importance of the night. Many people will observe the occasion by performing nawafil prayers, making supplications, and reciting the Holy Quran. The Sindh government has urged citizens to ensure peaceful observance while adhering to public order and safety regulations.
Religious leaders in Sindh have welcomed the decision to declare a school holiday, emphasizing that it will allow families to fully participate in the religious activities of Shab-e-Barat. They have also encouraged citizens to use the opportunity to strengthen their faith and engage in acts of kindness and reflection.
Muslims worldwide mark the night of the 15th of Shaban with immense devotion, spending hours in worship and repentance. In Sindh, the observance is particularly significant, with thousands flocking to mosques and shrines to seek divine mercy. Various welfare organizations across Sindh are also expected to distribute food and essentials to the needy, reinforcing the spirit of community and compassion.
