Sindh Braces for Hot Weather on March 25

Islamabad, March 24, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast warning of hot weather for several cities in the Sindh province on Monday, March 25, 2024.

According to the Met office, temperatures are steadily rising in numerous cities, including Karachi – the bustling port city and commercial center of Pakistan. The met office has urged citizens to take necessary precautionary measures to cope with the expected heatwave.

The weather forecast for Monday, March 25, 2024, across the country indicates mainly dry conditions, with partly cloudy weather expected in most regions.

Looking back at the weather on Sunday, March 24, 2024, dry conditions prevailed across most parts of the country. However, isolated areas in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly regions experienced light rain, accompanied by wind and thunderstorms.

Analyzing the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave is currently influencing the western and upper parts of the country.

Over the past 24 hours, dry weather dominated most regions, with rain and wind-thunderstorm activities recorded in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

The recorded rainfall (in millimeters) in various regions is as follows: In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dera Ismail Khan (Airport 31, City 20), and Bacha Khan Airport reported 01 mm of rainfall. In Punjab, Bhakkar recorded 18 mm, Jhang 13 mm, Faisalabad 12 mm, Hafizabad, Joharabad, and Sargodha 04 mm each, while Okara, Sheikhupura, and T T Singh reported 03 mm each. Lahore (City 02, Airport 01), Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, and Kot Addu received 02 mm each, and Multan Airport, Kasur, Noor Pur Thal, and Sahiwal recorded 01 mm each.

Yesterday’s recorded highest maximum temperatures (in degrees Celsius) were as follows: Shaheed Benazirabad 39°C, Chhor, Mithi, and Sakrand 38°C, and Lasbella and Hyderabad 37°C.

As temperatures continue to soar, residents of Sindh, particularly Karachi, are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The PMD will continue to monitor weather patterns and issue updates as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the populace.
