The compact electric two-seater revives the spirit of the original Smart Fortwo, offering a 410 km CLTC range, fast charging and a limited Couture Edition.
Smart has officially introduced the all-new Smart #2 at the Paris Motor Show, marking the global debut of its latest compact electric vehicle. Inspired by the original Smart Fortwo, the new model retains a two-door, two-seat configuration while incorporating modern styling, updated technology and an all-electric powertrain. The company has announced a starting pre-order price of €19,990 for European customers.
Smart #2 Couture Edition Launched in China
Alongside the international unveiling, Smart has opened orders for the limited-production Smart #2 Couture Edition in China. Priced at 112,999 yuan, the special version is restricted to 999 units, with deliveries expected to begin before the end of the year. Pricing for the remaining Chinese variants is scheduled to be announced in November.
The European lineup will include Pure, Pure+ and Premium trims, alongside the exclusive Couture Edition. The special edition comes with premium equipment, including a glass roof, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless charging, navigation and a seven-speaker Sennheiser sound system.
Compact Dimensions and Distinctive Styling
The Smart #2 features a compact body measuring approximately 2,751 mm in length, 1,669 mm in width and 1,555 mm in height. Its wheelbase stretches 1,875 mm, making it suitable for urban driving and tight parking spaces.
Exterior highlights include LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, a capsule-patterned grille, distinctive circular taillights and a split tailgate. The Couture Edition receives a Matte Cloud White and Corona Gold paint combination, gold-accented detailing and 16-inch gold-finished wheels.
Modern Cabin and Driver Assistance
Inside, the electric car features a floating infotainment display running the Flyme Link system, a digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke steering wheel. Other equipment includes turbine-style air vents, 256-colour ambient lighting and concealed storage.
The model also offers Level 2 driver-assistance technology and remote parking functions, adding convenience to its city-focused design.
Battery, Range and Charging Details
Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 60 kW, equivalent to approximately 80 horsepower. A 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by CATL provides a claimed CLTC range of 410 km, while the WLTP figure stands at 332 km.
With support for 65 kW DC fast charging, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes. MacPherson front suspension, a five-link independent rear setup and a minimum turning radius of 3.35 metres further support manoeuvrability in congested urban environments.
With its compact proportions, modern features and competitive starting price, the Smart #2 is positioned as an electric mobility option for city drivers in Europe and China.
