Sony Xperia 1 VII leak reveals design, features, and all three colors

Sony is preparing to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia 1 VII, on May 13, and ahead of the official launch, leaked renders have surfaced online, offering a detailed look at the device in all three color options — black, green, and the highly anticipated return of purple.

The Xperia lineup has always stood out for its unique, minimalistic design language, and with the Xperia 1 VII, Sony remains committed to that signature aesthetic.

From the renders, it’s clear that Sony is not straying far from the visual identity of its previous models. The Sony Xperia 1 VII retains the classic tall and narrow form factor, a familiar sight for Xperia fans. The smartphone also continues to feature Zeiss T* coated camera lenses, a hallmark of Sony’s emphasis on premium imaging. Among the three rear cameras, users can expect a periscope-style telephoto lens — a consistent favorite for zoom enthusiasts. Additionally, the ultrawide camera reportedly comes with a sensor that is 2.1 times larger than the one in the Xperia 1 VI, promising improved low-light performance and broader dynamic range.

Sony isn’t abandoning fan-favorite hardware features either. The Xperia 1 VII will still offer a 3.5mm headphone jack — a rarity in today’s flagship market — along with upgraded stereo speakers, which now deliver improved low-to-mid frequency sound quality. The phone is backed by a 5,000 mAh battery, designed to offer a two-day battery life under standard usage conditions.

Sony is also including a Bravia-branded 4K OLED display, and enhancing the device’s usability in different lighting conditions with dual ambient light sensors — one on the front and one on the back. Software-wise, the Xperia 1 VII will launch with Android 15 and promises four years of major OS updates along with six years of security patches, making it a long-term investment for users.

Under the hood, the Sony Xperia 1 VII is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “Elite” chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM, according to recent Geekbench listings.

In short, the Sony Xperia 1 VII continues the Xperia tradition with meaningful upgrades while staying true to its distinctive style and functionality.
