ISLAMABAD: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tri-series in Pakistan, as the team steps up preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Kusal Mendis will captain the side, which blends experienced international campaigners with emerging white-ball talent as Sri Lanka looks to build a settled combination ahead of the global tournament.
Opening batter Pathum Nissanka has been included in the squad, although his participation remains subject to medical clearance. He will travel with the team only if declared fit.
Sri Lanka’s top-order options include Avishka Fernando, Kamil Mishara and Pavan Rathnayake, while Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage provide depth in the middle order.
Former captain Dasun Shanaka adds experience and all-round ability, while Dunith Wellalage offers another spin-bowling option.
Sri Lanka’s bowling options
The bowling attack features mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana and wrist-spinner Sachindu Colombage.
The pace department includes Dushmantha Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Eshan Malinga, giving Sri Lanka a combination of experience and emerging fast-bowling talent.
