Sri Lanka Shatter Record in Women’s T20I

Sri Lanka clinched victory in the Women’s T20I series against New Zealand, preventing a whitewash and making a strong statement with a commanding 10-wicket win.

Their impressive performance also saw them set a new record for the highest 10-wicket run chase in the history of Women’s T20Is. In the match, the Sri Lankan hosts restricted New Zealand to a total of 140 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Following this, Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Madavi formed an unbeaten partnership of 143 runs, comfortably achieving the target with over five overs to spare.

Athapaththu displayed exceptional batting skills, scoring 80 runs off just 42 deliveries, while Madavi contributed an unbeaten 49 runs.

This partnership between the two players set a new milestone for the Sri Lankan women’s team, becoming their highest partnership for any wicket in T20Is.

Notably, this was also the third occasion where the Sri Lankan team achieved a 100+ run partnership in Women’s T20Is, and Madavi has been part of all three.
