State Bank clarifies Rs75 banknote is not being withdrawn

KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a clarification regarding Rs75 banknote after some reports suggested that this currency note is going to withdrawn.

The central bank said that this note was issued on 14th August on their 75th anniversary.

According to a State Bank spokesperson, this note has been available since September 30, 2022. State Bank has no intention of discontinuing the 75 rupee note in the future.

The spokesperson also said that this note is acceptable for all kinds of transactions like other currency notes. All rumors about the discontinuation of the current note are baseless.

There is no deadline for the withdrawal of the current note. The 75 rupee note has been printed only once in large numbers and will not be printed again. The design of the 75 rupee note was created by the State Bank in collaboration with a local designer.

Previously, the State Bank had issued a commemorative note of Rs. 5 on their 50th anniversary and a Rs. 10 coin was issued in 2016. There is no plan to discontinue the Rs. 10 note, and both the Rs. 10 note and coin will remain in use. There is no proposal under consideration to discontinue the Rs. 1 and Rs. 2 coins.
