The SBP’s weighted average exchange rates provide a useful reference for banks, businesses, importers, exporters and other market participants involved in foreign currency transactions. However, actual rates offered by individual banks may vary depending on transaction size, customer requirements and prevailing market conditions.
Currency values can change in response to global financial developments, domestic economic indicators, foreign exchange demand and supply, and changes in monetary policy. Businesses dealing in international trade can use these rates to estimate the rupee value of payments and receipts. Individuals sending or receiving remittances may also monitor daily currency movements to assess exchange rate changes.
Customers should confirm the latest applicable rate with their bank or authorised exchange company before conducting a transaction, as published indicative rates may not represent the final rate available at the time of settlement.
