KARACHI: Canadian Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Wendy Gilmour on Friday said that Canada and Pakistan have potential to further grow trade relations.
She stated this during her visit to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). She rang the bell for start of trading at the stock market.
Ms. Gilmour said that both the countries had strong trade relations and it was further growing.
She said that cooperation in services and agriculture was further strengthening.
The deputy high commissioner said that Canada was focusing on further investment in different commodities and services sectors.
On the occasion Salman Mehdi, Chairman, PSX said that the government had taken difficult decisions on interest rate and rupee devaluation.
Now there will be good news for stock market in the planned supplementary budget, he added.
PSX chairman said that the stock market was performing well in 2016.
But in 2018 the PSX was ranked amongst the worst performing equity markets, he added.
He explained that market was affected by the political uncertainty in 2017.
Mehdi said that the market would perform better in future provided incentive in the upcoming mini-budget.
The Canadian deputy high commissioner also met CEO PSX Richard Morin and other members.
