Stranger Things cast reunites as Netflix hit celebrates 10th anniversary

The cast of Netflix’s blockbuster series Stranger Things reunited to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary, marking a milestone for one of the streaming platform’s most successful original productions.

Netflix released a special anniversary video featuring many of the series’ biggest stars, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke.

The reunion comes as the long-running science fiction drama reaches a decade since its debut, prompting an emotional message from creators Matt and Ross Duffer.

Duffer Brothers reflect on decade-long journey

In a joint statement, the creators, writers, directors and executive producers reflected on the end of the show’s journey.

“We’re feeling so many emotions today. Nostalgic, proud and, yeah, a little sad too, that the decade-long journey of making Stranger Things has come to an end,” the Duffer Brothers said.

They also thanked the cast, crew and the global fan base that supported the series throughout its run.

“But above all, we feel grateful — for our amazing cast, who we watched grow into wonderful human beings; for the hundreds of brilliant artists who devoted so much of themselves bringing the story to life; and for you, the fans, whose dedication, patience and passion fueled all of us throughout the years. So: THANK YOU.”

Fans encouraged to revisit Season 1

To mark the anniversary, the Duffer Brothers encouraged fans to revisit the show’s first season through the newly released Season 1 VHS Special Edition.

“If you want to celebrate, we humbly suggest opening up the curiosity door one more time, grabbing a 3 Musketeers (maybe some chocolate pudding too!) and watching the Season 1 VHS Special Edition,” they said.

The creators added that the collectible edition was designed to resemble a VHS tape that could have been found on the shelves of Hawkins’ fictional Family Video store.

“If Stranger Things existed in Hawkins — sitting on a shelf at Family Video — it would look just like this (complete with pan-and-scan).”

They jokingly warned fans about the nostalgic experience before hinting at the possibility of future VHS releases.

“Is it possible your head will explode from nostalgia overload? Yes. But it’s worth the gamble! And hey, if enough of you nerds watch it, maybe we’ll do the rest of the seasons.”

A global Netflix phenomenon

Premiering in 2016, Stranger Things became one of Netflix’s defining original series, blending science fiction, horror and 1980s nostalgia while launching the careers of several young cast members.

Over four seasons, the series developed a worldwide fan following and became one of the streaming service’s most-watched titles, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards.
