Suryakumar’s Captaincy Sparks India’s Dominance in T20 Series

India’s fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna, attributes the team’s strong start in the ongoing T20I series against Australia to stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Krishna, who took three crucial wickets in India’s second consecutive victory over Australia in Thiruvananthapuram, praises Yadav’s impact, emphasizing the captain’s trust and support for the players.

Despite Yadav scoring only 19 runs in the match, Krishna believes that Yadav’s influence goes beyond his batting performance. According to Krishna, Yadav’s captaincy mirrors his approach at the crease – trusting players, providing support, and fostering a culture of freedom where teammates can execute their plans with confidence.

In the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership has propelled India to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, setting a promising tone for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Following Yadav’s early dismissal in the second T20I, India’s middle order stepped up, with Ruturaj Gaikwad (58), Yashasvi Jaiswal (53), and Ishan Kishan (52) scoring half-centuries.

The team posted an imposing total of 235/4. Bowlers Ravi Bishnoi (3/32) and Prasidh Krishna (3/41) played pivotal roles, limiting Australia’s response.

Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell failed to replicate his Cricket World Cup heroics, contributing to Australia’s significant defeat.

Despite challenges posed by dew in the later stages of the match, Krishna, drawing from his experience in the World Cup squad, highlighted the learning curve and the importance of preparation, considering various factors like pitch conditions, the situation, and the opponent.

The third T20I between India and Australia is scheduled for Tuesday in Guwahati, promising another exciting clash in the series.
