Suzuki has taken a significant leap into the electric vehicle market by unveiling its first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e VITARA, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi.
This globally strategic model, which was first revealed in Milan, Italy, aims to reshape the future of electric mobility in India and beyond.
The e VITARA represents Suzuki’s vision of sustainability and innovation, designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation. Production of the BEV is scheduled to begin in spring 2025 at Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art Gujarat Plant.
Sales are expected to follow by summer 2025, targeting key markets such as India, Europe, and Japan. The Indian audience had the privilege of seeing the production model for the first time during the expo, where Suzuki showcased eight vibrant display models.
Alongside these were cut-away vehicles and technical exhibits highlighting the cutting-edge BEV technology, including the innovative eAxle system.
Suzuki has also recognized that the success of electric vehicles depends not only on their design and performance but also on the availability of a reliable charging infrastructure. To address this, the company announced plans to establish a robust BEV ecosystem in India.
Leveraging Maruti Suzuki’s extensive sales and service network, the initiative aims to offer customers a seamless ownership experience, minimizing concerns about charging accessibility and range anxiety.
At the press conference, Suzuki’s President reaffirmed the company’s commitment to understanding the unique needs of Indian customers. He emphasized that Suzuki is not just launching an electric vehicle but is also working towards building a supportive ecosystem that ensures hassle-free BEV adoption.
This includes providing a range of customer services and solutions that align with the Indian market’s requirements.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 proved to be the ideal platform for Suzuki to demonstrate its technological prowess and dedication to a sustainable future. By introducing the e VITARA, Suzuki has positioned itself as a key player in India’s growing EV market while reinforcing its global strategy for green mobility.
With production set to begin soon, the e VITARA is poised to become a game-changer, not only in India but also in international markets, marking a significant milestone in Suzuki’s journey towards electrification.
