The Devil Wears Prada 2 has removed a previously filmed cameo by actress Sydney Sweeney from its final cut, according to Entertainment Weekly, as the sequel undergoes final post-production ahead of its theatrical release.
Sweeney had reportedly filmed a brief appearance for the fashion-focused sequel, in which she appeared as herself in an early scene involving a celebrity client. The moment was intended to underscore the film’s high-fashion setting and fast-paced media environment.
However, the sequence has since been cut from the final version of the film. A source cited by Entertainment Weekly said the decision was made for creative reasons and was not related to performance or casting issues.
“The scene simply did not fit the flow of the final narrative,” the source said, adding that the removal was part of broader editing choices aimed at tightening the storyline and improving continuity.
Despite the cut, production insiders stressed that Sweeney’s involvement was valued and the decision was made in the interest of the film’s overall structure.
The sequel continues the story world introduced in the original 2006 hit, with returning stars including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, all reprising roles tied to the competitive fashion publishing industry.
The film remains scheduled for a wide theatrical release on May 1, with strong anticipation from audiences following the success of the original installment.
Industry observers note that cameo removals during post-production are common in large ensemble films, where pacing and narrative coherence often take priority over individual appearances.
