Karachi, April 19, 2025 – Pakistan has spent a substantial $1.13 billion on the import of mobile phones during the first nine months (July–March) of the current fiscal year, despite ongoing efforts to promote domestic assembly and reduce foreign exchange pressure.

The program aims to enhance accessibility to smartphones, bridging the affordability gap and driving digital inclusion across the country.

Islamabad, January 3, 2025 – Locally assembled mobile phones in Pakistan are 8% more expensive than those produced in China, according to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Engineering Development Board (EDB). The revelation came during a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production, chaired by Senator Aon Abbas.

The European Union’s (EU) USB-C directive, aimed at reducing e-waste and enhancing consumer convenience, is now in force.

Pakistan has recorded mobile phone imports worth $570.167 million in the first five months (July-November) of the current fiscal year 2024-25.

Pakistan’s mobile phone imports experienced a significant dip in the first two months (July-August) of the fiscal year 2024-25, marking around 20% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year.
