Taylor Swift, the global music sensation known for electrifying stadiums and dominating music charts, is now facing a less glamorous spotlight—a courtroom.
The pop superstar has officially been subpoenaed to testify in a high-stakes legal dispute between her close friend Blake Lively and actor-producer Justin Baldoni. And from all indications, Swift and her team are not pleased.
According to sources speaking to TMZ, Baldoni’s legal representative, Bryan Freedman, served Swift with the subpoena last Friday. The goal? To compel her to appear as a witness in the trial, which is currently scheduled for March 2026. The case stems from Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, alleging an attempt to seize creative control over their 2024 film It Ends With Us.
Despite being named in the proceedings, Swift’s connection to the film appears minimal at best. A spokesperson for Swift issued a sharp response, firmly denying any meaningful involvement. “Taylor Swift never stepped foot on the set of the movie, had no input in casting, creative direction, or editing. She didn’t even view the film until weeks after its release,” the statement read.
The only connection Swift had with the production was the licensing of her song My Tears Ricochet—one track among those contributed by 19 different artists. Her team emphasized that she was on a global tour throughout 2023 and 2024, headlining what has been widely reported as one of the most successful concert tours in history.
Calling the subpoena an unnecessary spectacle, Swift’s team suggested the move was less about the facts of the case and more about leveraging Swift’s name for media attention. “This appears to be a calculated attempt to turn Taylor Swift into tabloid fodder rather than focusing on the legal facts,” the representative added.
Despite having no direct role in the dispute, Swift now finds herself entangled in a Hollywood legal drama she clearly didn’t sign up for. Whether she will ultimately be compelled to testify remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Swift’s involvement is yet another unexpected chapter in an already high-profile case.
