Tecno unveils concept smartphone with world’s first 0mm bezels

Borderless concept phone to debut at IFA 2026, showcasing a true edge-to-edge display with no visible screen borders

Tecno has unveiled its Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone, introducing what the company claims is the world’s first smartphone with 0mm display bezels. The prototype is set to make its public debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin this September, highlighting Tecno’s latest advancements in smartphone display technology.

According to Tecno, the concept device features a true edge-to-edge display with no visible bezels surrounding the screen, creating a more immersive viewing experience than current flagship smartphones. The company stated that the breakthrough was achieved through advanced internal stacking, innovative screen packaging techniques, and structural re-engineering.

While Tecno has not yet revealed detailed technical specifications behind the engineering process, the company is expected to provide more information during the official unveiling at IFA 2026.

Despite eliminating the bezels, the concept phone still features a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, indicating that under-display selfie camera technology has not yet been incorporated into the prototype.

To demonstrate the achievement, Tecno released promotional images comparing the new concept phone with Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro, highlighting the noticeable difference in bezel thickness. The comparison underscores Tecno’s ambition to push display design beyond what is currently available in premium smartphones.

The announcement reflects the growing competition among smartphone manufacturers to maximize screen-to-body ratios. While ultra-thin bezels have become common in recent years, a completely borderless display has remained one of the industry’s most challenging design goals.

Although the Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone is not expected to enter commercial production immediately, Tecno suggested that the 0mm bezel technology could eventually be integrated into its future smartphone lineup. If commercialized, the innovation could help the company differentiate its devices in the increasingly competitive global smartphone market.

Tecno has not disclosed details regarding the device’s processor, cameras, battery capacity, or software, as the current focus remains on showcasing its display technology.

The concept phone will be one of Tecno’s headline exhibits at IFA 2026, where the company is expected to present additional innovations alongside its next-generation mobile devices.
