Ishana Night Shyamalan’s debut horror film, “The Watchers,” is set to make a swift transition to digital streaming platforms following its recent theatrical release.
Produced by her father, renowned filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, the movie stars Dakota Fanning and premiered in theaters on June 7. Now, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that “The Watchers” will be available for premium video on demand starting June 28, just three weeks after its cinematic debut.
Described in the press release as a chilling narrative, “The Watchers” follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist who finds herself stranded in a sprawling, untamed forest in western Ireland. Seeking refuge, Mina unwittingly becomes ensnared with three strangers, all haunted by mysterious and malevolent creatures each night.
Prime Video has slated the digital release for June 27, accessible from 9 p.m. Pacific Time onwards. The platform offers pre-orders for the movie in ultra HD for $24.99, with similar options available on VUDU (also known as Fandango at Home) and AppleTV+. For those opting to rent, Warner Bros. Discovery states “The Watchers” will be available on PVOD for $19.99, providing a 48-hour viewing window from the time of purchase.
Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery plans a broader release strategy for “The Watchers,” including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats set to hit shelves on August 27.
Ishana Night Shyamalan, making her directorial debut with this project, brings a fresh perspective to the horror genre, continuing her family’s legacy of compelling storytelling. With Dakota Fanning leading the cast and her father’s support behind the scenes, “The Watchers” promises an intriguing exploration into fear and survival in the eerie backdrop of Ireland’s wilderness.
As anticipation builds for its digital release, audiences can prepare to delve into a world where the line between reality and terror blurs, courtesy of Ishana Night Shyamalan’s “The Watchers.”
