Islamabad, April 2, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thundershowers in multiple districts of Punjab on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
While most parts of Punjab will experience dry conditions, certain areas are expected to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.
According to the PMD, the weather across Punjab will generally remain dry on April 3, 2025. However, rain-wind and thundershowers are anticipated in several regions, including Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Khushab. These thundershowers may bring temporary relief from the prevailing dry spell in northern Punjab.
Regarding the prevailing synoptic situation, the PMD stated that continental air dominates most parts of the country. However, a trough of westerly waves is expected to approach western Pakistan by Wednesday evening or night. This system is likely to impact upper parts of the country over the next 24 to 36 hours, bringing a chance of thundershowers in various districts of Punjab.
The PMD has also issued its weather forecast for Wednesday, April 2, 2025, indicating that mainly dry weather will persist across most districts of Punjab. In the southern districts, conditions will be relatively hotter. However, gusty winds are likely to affect the plain areas of Punjab, while certain regions such as Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, D.G. Khan, and Noorpur Thal may experience light rain.
Meanwhile, in northern Punjab, including Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat, partly cloudy conditions are expected during the evening and night. These areas could also witness scattered thundershowers as the weather system advances.
The PMD has advised residents of Punjab, particularly in areas expected to receive thundershowers, to remain cautious about possible strong winds and localized flooding. Authorities have also been urged to stay alert as sudden weather changes could impact daily activities in the affected districts.
With Punjab experiencing varying weather patterns, the upcoming thundershowers are likely to provide some respite from the dry and hot conditions in certain regions, while also signaling a shift in atmospheric patterns. Residents are encouraged to stay updated with official weather alerts and take necessary precautions during this period of fluctuating weather conditions.
