Islamabad, September 24, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting thundershowers in Islamabad and various parts of Punjab on Monday, September 25, 2023.

This weather development is attributed to a westerly wave affecting upper and central regions of the country, along with monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea penetrating into these areas.

The PMD’s forecast indicates the following weather conditions:

Areas Affected:

• Thundershowers are expected in Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

• Northeast Punjab is likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall during this period.

Alerts and Precautions:

• The PMD has issued an alert warning of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Lahore, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi due to the anticipated heavy rains.

• Landslides are also a concern in vulnerable areas, including Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, and Abbottabad during this weather event.

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Gilgit and Bagrote 02.

Recorded Highest Maximum Temperatures (°C):

• Turbat, Sibbi, and Rahim Yar Khan recorded the highest maximum temperatures at 40°C.
