Thundershowers Expected in Islamabad and Upper Punjab on Sunday, August 27

Karachi, August 26, 2023 – Residents of Islamabad and upper Punjab can look forward to a respite from the scorching summer heat as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts thundershowers for Sunday, August 27, 2023.

The PMD, in its daily weather report, has indicated the likelihood of rain, wind, and thundershowers in several regions, including the Potohar region, Islamabad, upper Punjab, northeast Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir. Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in other parts of the country.

The prevailing weather conditions are attributed to a westerly wave affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. Monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea are also penetrating into the upper regions, contributing to the anticipated thundershowers.

In the past 24 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers were observed in various parts of the country. Notable rainfall was recorded in Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and more. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan also experienced wet weather.

Highest Maximum Temperature

Turbat recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43°C, while many other regions experienced relatively hot and humid weather conditions.

As the region braces for thundershowers, residents are advised to take precautions and stay updated with weather forecasts. The anticipated rain should bring relief to areas grappling with high temperatures and contribute positively to the region’s water resources.
