Thundershowers Expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 11

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting thundershowers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

According to the PMD, the impending weather system is expected to bring rain, accompanied by thundershowers and gusty winds, to various parts of the region.

In its detailed forecast for Thursday, April 11, 2024, the PMD indicated that while most areas of the country will experience predominantly dry weather, the upper regions can expect partly cloudy conditions. However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Pothohar region, and north Balochistan are likely to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers.

Explaining the synoptic situation, the PMD highlighted the approach of a shallow westerly wave towards the upper parts of the country, indicating the likelihood of precipitation in the mentioned regions.

Looking back at the weather conditions on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the PMD reported mainly dry weather across most of the country, with partly cloudy skies in the upper areas. However, isolated areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region experienced rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms during the afternoon.

Over the past 24 hours, dry weather dominated most parts of the country, with hotter temperatures observed in the southern regions. The PMD recorded the highest maximum temperatures for the day, with Shaheed Benazirabad, Padidan, Sakrand, Rahim Yar Khan, Mohenjodaro, Khanpur, and Dadu reaching 43°C, while other areas recorded highs of 42°C.

As the country braces for the anticipated weather system, authorities are advising residents in the affected regions to take necessary precautions. This includes staying indoors during thunderstorms, securing loose objects that may be carried away by strong winds, and avoiding unnecessary travel until the weather conditions improve.

Local administrations and emergency response teams are on standby to address any eventualities that may arise due to the expected thundershowers. Residents are encouraged to stay updated with weather forecasts and advisories issued by the PMD and other relevant authorities to ensure their safety and well-being during adverse weather conditions.

With the potential for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, residents are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to mitigate any potential risks posed by the upcoming weather system.
