Thunderstorm Predicted for Upper Punjab on October 9, 2023

Islamabad, October 9, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting a thunderstorm for upper Punjab on Monday, October 9, 2023.

This forecast comes as part of the PMD’s daily weather report, highlighting significant weather events across the country.

According to the PMD’s report, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in several regions, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, and the Pothohar Region. These weather conditions are likely to prevail throughout the day, bringing relief from dry weather and adding a touch of excitement to the atmosphere.

The synoptic situation in the region is characterized by the presence of a shallow westerly wave over the northern areas of Pakistan, contributing to the formation of these weather patterns.

Over the past 24 hours, the weather across most parts of the country has been characterized by dry conditions, with southern regions experiencing hot temperatures. However, some areas recorded precipitation, with Bagrote receiving 8mm of rain, Kalam receiving 2mm, and Babusar, Drosh, Gilgit, and Gupis each receiving 1mm of rain.

The recorded highest maximum temperatures for the day were 42°C in Shaheed Benazirabad, 42°C in Sibbi, and 41°C in Turbat.

As thunderstorms approach upper Punjab and other regions, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during adverse weather conditions.
