Tom Holland has backed rising actor Owen Cooper as a potential future Spider-Man, suggesting the Adolescence breakout star could be a strong candidate to take over the iconic Marvel role in the years ahead.

Speaking in an interview with Esquire, the current Spider-Man actor praised Cooper’s talent and said the young performer would be “awesome” in the role.

“Owen Cooper would be awesome,” Holland said. “Obviously, he’s super-talented and he’s the talk of the town right now.”

Tom Holland Hints at Future Casting Direction

Holland’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about the long-term future of the Spider-Man franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor, who recently confirmed his marriage to Zendaya, has previously expressed interest in introducing a live-action version of Miles Morales to the MCU, further fueling discussion about potential direction changes for the franchise.

While no official plans have been announced regarding a reboot or recasting, industry speculation continues over whether future instalments could shift toward new characters or actors.

Owen Cooper Previously Expressed Spider-Man Dream

Holland’s endorsement follows comments made by Cooper during an appearance on The Tonight Show, where the young actor said playing Spider-Man had long been a personal ambition.

Cooper told host Jimmy Fallon that the role had been a childhood dream, though he clarified he was not expecting to be cast in the near future.

The actor has recently gained attention for his breakout performance in the series Adolescence, which has positioned him as one of the industry’s rising young talents.

Next Spider-Man Film Set for Release

The next instalment in the franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is scheduled for theatrical release on July 31.

The film is expected to continue the story of Holland’s Peter Parker, although Marvel Studios has not confirmed longer-term casting or storyline plans for the character.

As speculation grows about the future of Spider-Man on screen, Holland’s remarks have added fresh attention to the possibility of a new generation stepping into the role in the coming years.
