Spurs secure the Egypt international on a season-long loan with a reported £50 million obligation to buy.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Egypt international Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a season-long loan, strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The deal, confirmed by Tottenham on Thursday, reportedly includes an obligation for the north London club to make the transfer permanent next summer. British media reports suggest the guaranteed fee is worth £50 million, with a further £10 million potentially payable through performance-related add-ons.
Marmoush expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham and beginning a new chapter in his career. The 27-year-old is also understood to have been impressed by the club’s project and his discussions with head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
The Egyptian forward spent two seasons at Manchester City after joining the club following an impressive spell before his move to the Etihad Stadium. He made an encouraging start during his first half-season but struggled to secure regular playing time as competition for places remained intense.
Erling Haaland’s established position as City’s leading striker further limited Marmoush’s opportunities under Pep Guardiola. During the previous campaign, Marmoush managed three goals in 21 Premier League appearances, a significant drop from the seven goals he scored during his first half-season with City.
Tottenham have been active in the transfer market as De Zerbi continues to reshape the squad. The Italian coach took charge in March and helped Spurs avoid relegation following a difficult season.
The London club have already invested heavily in rebuilding their team, bringing in midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes and defender Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined reported fee of £237 million.
Tottenham have also strengthened their attack with the signing of Brazilian winger Savio, formerly known as Savinho, from Manchester City in a deal reportedly worth around £75 million plus £10 million in add-ons.
The latest additions underline Tottenham’s determination to improve after finishing 17th in the Premier League in each of their last two difficult seasons. Marmoush’s arrival is expected to provide additional pace, creativity and attacking depth as Spurs target a stronger campaign.
