Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has introduced the latest addition to its Land Cruiser lineup in Japan, the “250” series. Alongside this launch, Toyota has rolled out special edition models, namely the ZX “First Edition” and VX “First Edition,” with a total production limited to just 8,000 units.
The “250” series stands as the cornerstone model within the Land Cruiser family, aiming to blend robust off-road capabilities with enhanced everyday usability.
Developed under the theme of “back to the basics,” Toyota sought to reposition the Land Cruiser Prado to its original roots, focusing on delivering a vehicle that prioritizes reliability and trustworthiness in supporting customers’ daily lives.
With the introduction of the “250” series, Toyota has reaffirmed the distinct identities of its Land Cruiser models, consolidating them under the unified “Land Cruiser” brand. This move underscores Toyota’s commitment to evolving its vehicles in line with societal needs while maintaining the trust of its global customer base.
The “250” series shares the same sturdy GA-F platform as its predecessor, the “300” series, ensuring exceptional off-road performance. Notably, it boasts several firsts within the Land Cruiser lineup, including electric power steering (EPS) and Stabilizer with Disconnection Mechanism (SDM), enhancing both on-road handling and off-road prowess.
Under the hood, the “250” series offers two powertrain options: a 2.8-liter direct injection turbo diesel engine with Direct Shift-8AT transmission and a 2.7-liter gasoline engine with 6 Super ECT. Both variants promise potent performance while meeting stringent environmental standards.
In celebration of the “250” series launch, Toyota has unveiled two special edition models: the ZX “First Edition” and VX “First Edition.” These limited edition variants, restricted to 8,000 units, feature exclusive enhancements that harken back to the Land Cruiser’s origins.
The ZX “First Edition” model, based on the ZX grade, boasts distinctive features such as round Bi-Beam LED headlights and matte black painted aluminum wheels, accentuating its rugged appeal.
Meanwhile, the VX “First Edition” model, available with either diesel or gasoline engines, showcases an exclusive Sand exterior color and Dark Chestnut interior, along with advanced safety features like Toyota Safety Sense and Toyota Teammate.
The “250” series inherits the Land Cruiser’s legacy of reliability and durability while incorporating modern design elements. Its exterior exudes a blend of traditional Land Cruiser styling cues with contemporary touches, while the interior prioritizes both functionality and comfort.
