Toyota Pakistan Temporarily Shuts Down Production Amid Lower Demand

Karachi, August 24, 2023 – Toyota Pakistan has announced a temporary shutdown of its production facilities in response to dwindling demand and a shortage of inventory.

Indus Motor Company Limited, the manufacturer of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, officially conveyed this decision in a letter sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

In their statement, the company highlighted the ongoing difficulties faced by the automotive industry throughout the fiscal year 2022-2023. Factors contributing to this challenging environment include a slump in consumer buying power and the imposition of higher duties and taxes by the federal government.

To adapt to the current market dynamics, Indus Motor Company Limited has decided to temporarily halt its production operations. The production plant is scheduled to close from Friday, August 25, 2023, through to Wednesday, September 6, 2023, with both of these days inclusive.

This temporary production shutdown aims to help the company manage its inventory levels more effectively and align production with market demand.
