Toyota Unveils Hilux GR SPORT II: Elevating Performance, Comfort

Toyota has unveiled the new Hilux GR SPORT II, elevating this legendary pickup truck to new levels of performance, ride comfort, and eye-catching aesthetics.

Anticipated at dealerships in the second half of 2024, this impressive vehicle builds on the Hilux’s storied history of winning the Dakar Rally and establishing a reputation for durability and reliability since its inception in 1968.

The double cab Hilux GR SPORT II offers a remarkable combination of enhanced handling and stability, boasting best-in-class towing capacity at 3500 kg and payload capacity at 1000 kg. Its bold design sets it apart on and off the road, making it a standout in any adventure.

This second edition of the GR SPORT model comes with an increased tread width, expanding the lateral distance between the wheels by 140 mm at the front and 155 mm at the rear compared to the standard Hilux. This feature ensures a confident ride, even in challenging weather or road conditions.

The Hilux GR SPORT II promises an exceptional driving experience, both on and off the road. Thanks to the wider tread and significant handling improvements, it offers increased vehicle stability, reduced roll angle, and precise steering response. With optimized handling, drivers can enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride without compromising on excitement.

Under the hood, the Hilux GR SPORT II is equipped with a proven 2.8-liter engine, introduced to the Hilux range in 2020, delivering an impressive 204 DIN hp / 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior Design:

The GR SPORT II presents an imposing and stylish appearance, with updated aesthetics that reflect its motorsport success. It features striking 17-inch black alloy wheels, red brake callipers, and a variety of premium exterior design elements, such as a black G mesh front grille, black sidesteps, mirrors, and door handles. With its black rear bumper, silver-colored protective front underguard, and distinctive GR SPORT logos, it’s impossible to ignore this evocative pickup.

Interior Design:

Inside the cabin, the Hilux GR SPORT II continues its sporty theme with a black monochrome color scheme and bold red accents, including red seat belts.

Paddle controls offer manual shift selection, while black suede and leather sport seats with silver stitching provide both comfort and a better grip. The cabin also features a new multimedia system with wireless Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay®.

Technical Changes:

The Hilux GR SPORT II has been enhanced for off-road capabilities, boasting a 30-degree approach angle and increased ground clearance. Its aerodynamic design is optimized for reduced drag and turbulence, and the vehicle’s suspension and braking systems have been improved for better handling and stability.

All-terrain tires on lighter 17-inch wheels enhance grip, while larger front and rear discs provide precise and powerful braking.
