‘Twisters’ Set for Digital Streaming Release

Twisters, starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos, is gearing up for its digital streaming debut.

This highly anticipated standalone sequel to the 1996 hit Twister will soon be available on premium video on demand (PVOD).

In Twisters, Edgar-Jones takes on the role of Kate, a former storm chaser whose life is forever altered by a catastrophic tornado in her native Oklahoma. Five years after this harrowing event, Kate has transitioned to a quieter life as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in New York City in Twisters.

However, her past comes rushing back when Javi, played by Ramos, a former storm-chasing colleague now running his own storm tracking company, tracks her down.

Javi urgently needs Kate’s expertise to tackle a severe tornado outbreak back in Oklahoma. Reluctantly, she agrees to return to her storm-chasing roots. Upon her arrival, she encounters Tyler (Powell), also known as “The Tornado Wrangler.” Tyler is a charismatic daredevil who documents his storm-chasing escapades as a popular YouTube influencer.

Reports indicate that Twisters is slated to premiere on digital streaming platforms via PVOD on Tuesday, August 13. While this date is suggested by streaming trackers, it has not yet been officially confirmed by Universal Pictures, the film’s U.S. theatrical distributor. As such, the release date remains subject to change.

Another reliable source, DVD Releases, also confirms the August 13 PVOD release date for Twisters. Typically, Universal’s PVOD releases follow a window of 30 days from their theatrical debut, though some can appear as soon as 18 days post-theatrical release.

Fans of the original Twister and new viewers alike can look forward to experiencing the thrilling continuation of the storm-chasing saga from the comfort of their homes.
