As the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2024 progresses, the much-anticipated Super Six stage is set to kick off on January 30. Following the completion of the group stage on January 28, 12 formidable teams are primed for intense competition in the pursuit of U19 glory.
In this phase, the top three teams from each of the four round-robin groups will battle it out, with Groups A and D forming one Super Six Group, and Groups B and C constituting the other. Importantly, each team carries forward the points and Net Run Rate (NRR) earned against fellow Super Six qualifiers.
The Super Six line-up includes cricket powerhouses such as India, Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal from Groups A and D. Meanwhile, South Africa, England, West Indies, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe emerge from Groups B and C, showcasing a stellar cast for the next stage of the tournament.
For the teams that didn’t make it to the Super Six stage, namely USA, Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland, there’s still a chance as they will engage in playoffs for the last four coveted spots.
Super Six Format Unveiled
Teams will engage in two matches during the Super Six stage against opponents from the corresponding group who finished in a different position in their group. This sets the stage for thrilling encounters, such as India facing New Zealand and Nepal squaring off against the formidable opponents from Group D.
The top two teams from each Super Six group will advance to the semi-final stage, scheduled for February 6 and 8. The grand finale is slated for February 11, with all knockout games taking place in Benoni.
