KARACHI: United Bank Limited (UBL) has made history by becoming the first bank in Pakistan to integrate Google Wallet, allowing its Mastercard and Visa Debit Card holders to enjoy seamless digital transactions.
This advancement enables UBL customers to link their debit cards to Google Wallet on Android and Wear OS devices, providing a faster, safer, and more convenient way to pay.
With this integration, UBL customers can now make secure tap-and-pay transactions at retail stores, conduct online shopping, and complete in-app purchases with ease. The move aligns with UBL’s vision of promoting financial inclusion and digital transformation in Pakistan. Google Wallet ensures that every transaction is protected with state-of-the-art security features, including tokenization, biometric authentication, and device passcodes, safeguarding users against fraud and unauthorized access.

To mark this significant achievement, a high-profile delegation from Google, Visa, Mastercard, and Thales visited UBL’s Head Office in Karachi on March 12th, 2025, to explore strategic opportunities in Pakistan’s rapidly evolving digital payment ecosystem. The visiting dignitaries included Chen Way Siew, Financial Institutions, Network & Transit Partnerships Lead at Google, Umar Khan, Country Manager at Visa, and Arslan Khan, Country Manager at Mastercard. Representing UBL were Ijaz Farooq, Deputy CEO, Munawar Raza Shah, Chief Operating Officer, Sohail Aziz, Chief Information Officer, and Sharjeel Shahid, Group Executive Digital Banking, alongside other senior executives.
