Senior leaders from VEON and JazzWorld met SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu to explore financial inclusion, digital infrastructure and technology-led innovation in Pakistan.

Senior leadership from VEON Group and JazzWorld met with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen Pakistan’s capital markets, expand financial inclusion and accelerate investment in the country’s digital economy.

The delegation was led by Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group, and Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of JazzWorld. Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate & Regulatory Affairs; Saima Kamila Khan, Chief Legal Officer, JazzWorld; and Farrukh H. Khan, Chief Financial Officer, JazzWorld, also attended the meeting.

During the discussion, the leadership acknowledged progress in Pakistan’s capital markets and appreciated the SECP’s efforts to improve market efficiency, transparency and investor confidence.

A key area of discussion was the need to mobilise greater investment in digital infrastructure, as demand for data centres, cloud computing and artificial intelligence capabilities continues to increase. The participants also explored opportunities for closer collaboration between Pakistan’s technology and financial sectors to support the country’s digital transformation.

Terzioglu said Pakistan’s digital transformation would require significant investment in infrastructure, technology and innovative financial models. He added that VEON, as a long-term investor in Pakistan, sees opportunities to work with institutions such as the SECP to develop regulatory frameworks that can unlock capital, encourage innovation and strengthen the digital economy.

Ibrahim highlighted JazzWorld’s expansion beyond traditional telecommunications into an integrated digital services company covering areas including financial services, banking, insurance, artificial intelligence and technology.

He said the company’s scale and distribution network could help turn regulatory innovation into digital solutions capable of reaching millions of Pakistanis and businesses.

The meeting also examined opportunities to strengthen Pakistan’s insurance sector and widen access to financial services through greater public awareness, digital distribution and technology-driven solutions.

The discussions reaffirmed VEON and JazzWorld’s commitment to working with the SECP and other stakeholders to promote investment, financial inclusion and digital innovation while supporting the continued development of Pakistan’s digital economy.
