Waves Pakistan Resumes Production of Air Conditioners After Suspension in 2022

Company restarts local AC assembly after receiving 5,000 CKD kits, signaling recovery and expansion of other appliance segments.

Waves Home Appliances Limited has announced the resumption of air conditioner production in Pakistan, marking a major milestone for the company after operations were suspended in 2022 due to economic challenges and import restrictions.

The company revealed that local assembly activities have restarted following the arrival of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits. The development comes as Waves strengthens its financial position and restores its supply chain to meet growing market demand.

Air conditioner production had been temporarily halted in 2022 after Pakistan imposed nationwide import restrictions amid macroeconomic pressures and tighter monetary policies.

The resulting shortage of foreign exchange and rising costs placed significant pressure on the company’s working capital, forcing it to suspend the production and sale of air conditioners and several other product lines.

Despite these difficulties, Waves continued manufacturing its flagship deep freezers and refrigerators, enabling the company to maintain its presence in the home appliances market.

According to the company, improved financial health and better allocation of resources have allowed it to secure the import of larger volumes of raw materials and components.

As part of this strategy, Waves has reactivated its partnership with a leading Chinese supplier of air conditioner kits that also provides components to several major brands operating in Pakistan.

The first consignment of 5,000 CKD air conditioner kits has already arrived in the country, enabling the company to resume assembly of both T3 and T1 models in multiple sizes aligned with consumer demand.

Distribution of the newly assembled air conditioners has commenced through Waves’ nationwide dealer network, where the products have reportedly received an encouraging response from the market.

The company expects revenue generated from the revived air conditioner segment to be recognized in the current quarter, contributing positively to overall profitability.

The revival is also expected to support the return of other product categories, including washing machines, microwave ovens, and water dispensers, further strengthening Waves Pakistan’s product portfolio.
