West Ham Boosts Squad with Maguire and Ward-Prowse

West Ham United is making significant strides in bolstering their team by securing deals for two prominent players, Harry Maguire from Manchester United and James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.

The combined valuation of these acquisitions stands at approximately £60 million, with each transfer estimated to be around £30 million.

Harry Maguire, 30 years of age, faced challenges in securing consistent playing time with Manchester United in the previous season, leading to the removal of his captaincy for the upcoming campaign.

The prospect of joining West Ham has piqued Maguire’s interest, and although specific contractual terms are yet to be finalized, there are no anticipated obstacles.

Maguire’s initial signing with Manchester United in August 2019 set a world-record fee of £80 million for a defender. The pursuit of James Ward-Prowse by West Ham persisted throughout the summer, despite initial rejections from Southampton.

However, the transfer now seems inevitable as Southampton faces the departure of their team captain. West Ham’s determination to fortify their squad follows the departures of Declan Rice to Arsenal and Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta.

The club is actively considering Ajax’s Edson Alvarez as a potential replacement for Rice, and rumors also connect them with Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

Despite facing challenges at Manchester United, Harry Maguire remains a dependable contributor to the England national team under the leadership of Gareth Southgate.

His consistent performance earned him a starting role in all five matches for England during the 2022 World Cup.
