Having already secured an unassailable 3-1 lead, the Black Caps head into the series finale full of confidence and aiming to complete a commanding 4-1 triumph. West Indies, meanwhile, will be desperate to avoid another disappointing batting display and provide home supporters with a morale-boosting victory.
West Indies searching for batting revival
The hosts’ batting has been their biggest weakness throughout the five-match series.
West Indies have been bowled out before completing their allotted 50 overs in each of the last three ODIs and have failed to reach the 200-run mark in those matches. Their inability to build partnerships has also resulted in five consecutive defeats when batting first in ODI cricket.
The collapses have highlighted their vulnerability:

New Zealand’s spin attack has exposed the Caribbean side’s frailties, accounting for 24 wickets in the first four matches compared with just six claimed by the pace bowlers.

New Zealand have built their series-winning performance around disciplined bowling, particularly from their left-arm spin duo of Mitchell Santner and Jayden Lennox.
Lennox has emerged as one of the discoveries of the series, while Santner has combined economical bowling with timely breakthroughs and valuable lower-order runs.
Their efforts have consistently dismantled the West Indies middle order, making full use of spin-friendly conditions.
