Today in China, Xiaomi revealed its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, alongside HyperOS 2—the newest version of its Android-based interface.
This advanced update introduces three core innovations: HyperCore, HyperConnect, and HyperAI, designed to enhance device performance, connectivity, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
HyperOS 2 aims to offer Xiaomi users in China a more dynamic experience through foundational improvements, seamless cross-device interactions, and smarter AI features.
HyperOS 2 brings notable performance optimizations, such as a revamped scheduler and improved memory and I/O resource management, enhancing the system’s efficiency.
The update also introduces a new rendering pipeline and ongoing advancements in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 5G, promising strong network connectivity without signal gaps in any situation.
A key visual upgrade, the new “movie-like” lock screen, is powered by AI and offers unique, dynamic wallpapers. The home screen layout has been refreshed with “visual upgrades and customized content,” providing richer widgets and smoother animations.
Another notable addition is a 3D weather display, enhancing the overall user interface with a modern, immersive look.
One of the standout features of HyperOS 2 is cross-device functionality. Users can now control their smartphones from tablets using a windowed interface, while a cross-device clipboard and support for cross-device video recording add more versatility. This functionality aims to deliver a unified experience across Xiaomi devices.
AI integration is at the forefront of HyperOS 2, offering numerous tools to improve productivity and security. The new AI Magic Painting transforms sketches into images, while AI Voice Recognition provides real-time text transcription and automatic summaries for recordings.
Additional AI tools for text generation, translation, and fraud prevention are included, with bilingual translation available for meetings and calls. Furthermore, an AI Anti-Fraud feature identifies potential scams, adding an extra layer of security.
The initial rollout of HyperOS 2 begins in November for devices including the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Redmi K70, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro. In December, the update will reach the Xiaomi 13, Mix Fold 3, Civi 4 Pro, Redmi K60, and Redmi Note 14, among others.
While HyperOS 2 is currently exclusive to Chinese devices, Xiaomi is expected to announce an international version soon, along with a timeline for a global release.
