Zendaya Reveals Health Scare During Dune: Part Two Filming

Zendaya recently opened up about experiencing a health scare while filming Dune: Part Two in the desert.

In an interview with W magazine, the actress shared that she suffered from heatstroke due to dehydration during the production, which took place in a remote and arid location in Jordan.

The Spider-Man star revealed that the extreme heat and challenging logistics on set contributed to her health issues.

“It was very hot, and I remember thinking, ‘Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,’” Zendaya explained. She described how accessing a restroom required a significant hike, making it inconvenient during shooting.

The complex costumes used in Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation also posed difficulties. “If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes,” Zendaya said.

To avoid frequent bathroom trips, she decided to limit her water intake. Unfortunately, this decision backfired, leading to dehydration and heatstroke.

Recalling the incident, the 28-year-old actress admitted she felt severely unwell. “I felt so barfy. I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, ‘I feel terrible.’ She was like, ‘Did you drink water today?’ I said no,” she shared.

Despite her initial belief that limiting water was a smart choice, Zendaya now realizes the importance of staying hydrated, especially in extreme conditions.

The experience served as a valuable lesson for the star. “I thought I was being smart, but you can’t do that. So, lesson learned,” she reflected.

Zendaya’s candid revelation highlights the challenges actors face when working in demanding environments. It also underscores the critical need for self-care, even in the midst of a grueling production schedule. Fans eagerly await the release of Dune: Part Two, where Zendaya reprises her role as Chani in the highly anticipated sequel.
